At 5,895m, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is the highest mountain in Africa. It’s one of the largest volcanoes to ever break through the Earth’s crust – and your challenge is to reach the summit.
During a 12-day trip, you’ll trek through lush rainforests and acclimatise on the Shira Plateau before continuing through the Barranco Valley and up to the spectacular ice-capped peak.
This trip isn’t for the faint-hearted: you’ll be trekking for six to eight hours a day, sleeping in a tent and experiencing nightly temperatures as low as -15C. But we guarantee it’s one of the most exhilarating adventures you’ll ever attempt.
For more information about forthcoming trips, visit the Charity Challenge website at www.charitychallenge.com.
You can either choose to self-fund your trip, with no fundraising target, or take a charity place, where you raise money for Sightsavers in return for the main cost of your trip being covered. For info, see the Charity Challenge website.
Prices vary depending on the trip. If you’re self-funding, expect to pay about £3,000, with no fundraising target. Or you can pledge to raise at least £3,000 for Sightsavers and pay about £1,500 yourself, or raise £5,000 and pay about £550.
A Sightsavers contact person will be on hand to support you and offer tips and advice throughout your fundraising journey. We can also provide branded T-shirts, hats, tea towels, caps, badges and more to help you to raise money.
All your gifts help to achieve our aim of changing lives for the better.
Every gift you give helps change lives for people in the world’s poorest countries. Since our work began, your donations have provided 8.7 million cataract operations and 529,000 advanced trachoma operations. Our donors have also helped us to support more than 313,000 people with disabilities, enabling them to live full and independent lives.
We think it’s money well spent, and we hope you do too.
