Tax-deductible donations

Did you know that as a US citizen, your donations to Sightsavers are tax-deductible? As well as helping to change lives around the world, your donation can also benefit you by reducing your taxable income.

What is tax-deductible giving?

Tax-deductible giving is when a donor gives a charitable donation of money or goods to a qualified, tax-exempt group like Sightsavers.

By giving a donation to Sightsavers before the end of the US financial year (31 December), you can reduce your taxable income and amount of tax you have to pay.

There’s no limit to how much you can claim, but there is a limit to how much of a donation you’re able to claim in a financial year.

Is my donation to Sightsavers tax-deductible?

Sightsavers Inc. is an exempt company as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; EIN 47-4657747. Your donation to Sightsavers is tax-deductible, and will help us protect sight and disability rights around the world.

Please consult your personal CPA or tax accountant on the deductibility of your donation.

How to make a tax-deductible donation

One of the easiest ways to make a donation to Sightsavers is by giving a gift online, but there are other ways you can donate.

For every $1 we receive, including donated supplies, 91% goes on our vital charity work.

The remainder helps us grow awareness and our funding.

Every donation you make helps us continue to transform the lives of people in some of the world’s poorest countries.

With the support of our donors, we’ve restored the sight of more than 8 million people with cataracts, distributed 1.6 billion doses of medication to prevent diseases that can cause blindness, and supported over 300,000 people with disabilities.

Here’s what your tax-deductible giving can achieve...
