Sightsavers chairman Sir Clive Jones received a knighthood at a formal ceremony at Buckingham Palace on 12 February, recognising his contribution to humanitarian work around the world.

He was recognised for his work leading the UK’s Disasters Emergency Committee, which brings together 14 UK aid agencies to raise money at times of humanitarian crises. Sir Clive spent eight years as chairman of the organisation, visiting areas devastated by disasters and overseeing projects to rebuild communities.

He is also chairman of the ITV Pension Fund, the Runnymede Trust and National Theatre Wales.

Sir Clive’s career began in newspaper journalism, before he moved into broadcasting and held several top jobs in the commercial TV sector, including managing director of the ITV Network.

He joined Sightsavers as a trustee and chair designate before becoming the chairman of our UK board of trustees in July 2019.

Sightsavers CEO Dr Caroline Harper said: “We are extremely proud of Sir Clive’s achievement. This is a well-deserved recognition of his impressive career and humanitarian work around the world. Sightsavers is very lucky to have him as our chairman.”
