Sightsavers celebrates eye health partnership with Ransome Optical

November 2024

Sightsavers has teamed up with bespoke eyewear brand and opticians Ransome Optical to help provide life-changing cataract operations in Africa and Asia.

Ransome Optical offers eye tests and handcrafts spectacles and sunglasses at its on-site workshop in Hampstead, London. Customers can choose from stylish branded frames or create their own custom-made designs. The company has made glasses for famous clients, including the artist David Hockney.

For every pair of personalised spectacles sold, Ransome will donate £33 to cover the cost of a sight-saving cataract operation for an adult patient.

Ransome Optical’s founder Jack Lupton said: “I’m so excited to be part of Sightsavers’ mission, helping to bring eye care to a more far-reaching forum. Having experienced first-hand the impact we can have during a project visit in Malawi in 2017, I feel compelled to contribute to such an important cause.

“It’s a cliché, but many of us take our ability to see for granted. It’s not such a given for everybody and I hope that Ransome’s partnership with Sightsavers can help to equip more people with the phenomenal gift of sight.”
